Woodturning by Gary Brill
Woodworking
Gary has been doing woodturning and other woodworking for more than 35 years, and enjoys the design and creation process. While he primarily does woodturning, he occasionally creates tables, cabinets and other pieces
With his segmented bowls, the design focus is on how the wood type, grain and color create patterns of varying complexity while showing the beauty of the wood. These bowls are generally made from combinations of maple, walnut, cherry, mahogany, white and red oak, and occasionally exotic woods for additional color or contrast.
Gary enjoys taking distressed or spalted wood and incorporating these features into the design, highlighting the uniqueness of the piece.
His product line includes bowls, baby rattles, wands, rolling pins and spinning tops.
Gary is a member of Artisans United in Annandale, VA and the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild.
