Help Local Nonprofits
MEALS ON WHEELS
NVHG’s commitment to the Meals on Wheels program was initiated in 1979. At the beginning, members provided a total of 30 small gift items five times a year, to Meals on Wheels in Tysons and Vienna. These items, often handmade by members, were used for holiday and birthday gifts to the elderly, homebound Meals on Wheels recipients. This project has expanded significantly, now providing about 235 items every month to Tyson's, Vienna, Falls Church, Fairfax, McLean, Springfield, and Annandale.
SECOND STORY
The Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild is proud of its relationship with Second Story, formerly known as Alternative House. This not-for-profit organization is a shelter for abused and homeless children and teens. Our partnership goes back 20 plus years.
In the past, we have worked with Second Story by providing monthly donations of craft supplies, journals, and snacks. In addition, many of our members have been able to teach in-person arts and crafts classes to the young residents. We also provide the shelter with an annual monetary gift to enable their programs to continue.
The Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild looks forward to many more years of working with Second Story. We hope to meet their every need.
