MARILU'S DESIGNS

I am originally from Peru living in the Metro area since 1966. The pieces I create often reflect my heritage such as the Nazca Lines, Peruvian strings but also the influence of my travels abroad like Celtic symbols, greek lines, asian symbols.

The majority of my pieces involve manipulation of wire, whether it is looping, wrapping, coiling, weaving, as well as using fiber techniques with wire such as crochet, knitting, macrame.

I like to be challenged, so from time to time I explore different techniques such as metal-smith, stamping, fold-forming. I am also fascinated with the Japanese braiding technique Kumihimo, either with beads or just wire.
